How to get to Thailand from Vietnam?

You have several options to reach Thailand from Vietnam:

By plane: The choice for speed

If time is of the essence, flying is the fastest solution. Many airlines offer direct flights between major cities like Ha Noi or Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok. It's also a comfortable option, ideal if you have a lot of luggage. Among the airlines offering these connections are Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Air Asia, and Thai Airways. In addition to Bangkok, you can also land in Chiang Mai or Phuket.
Good to know: Flights take approximately 1.5-2 hours, and prices generally range between 3 and 9 million VND (approximately 100-300€) for a round trip, depending on the airline and the season.

By bus: The economical and authentic option

For a more authentic and economical experience, opt for the bus. Bus journeys are longer, but they will allow you to discover the landscapes and villages along the way. There is no direct connection; you have to pass through Laos. Buses connect Hanoi to key cities in Laos like Vientiane and Luang Prabang. Expect between 20 and 23 hours of travel. Since Vientiane is the gateway to Thailand, a direct bus will take you there for around 25 dollars. From Vientiane to Bangkok, add an extra 11 hours of road travel for a cost of approximately 31 dollars.

By train: The alternative option

Similar to the bus, there is no direct connection. You need to combine a bus that crosses Laos to Vientiane, the Laotian capital, with the main train leading to Bangkok. It's an interesting option to discover different modes of transportation and different countries. But perhaps not the most relaxing...
Good to know: The land journey requires obtaining a visa before crossing Laos.
