History in brief
At the time of French colonization, a small group of French soldiers settled in the area.
While most of them took up residence in the nearby town of Dong Van, some soldiers also found their way to Méo Vac. Today, vestiges of the past remain, as some of the city’s houses have been preserved since their construction between the mid-1920s and the late 1920s. There is not much else that goes back to colonial times, and a redesign of the region’s history has been used to showcase the local ethnic populations.

The best time to visit Meo Vac is the dry season, which lasts from November to April. During this period, weather conditions are more favorable and roads are easier to travel. Ideally, we will choose from March to May or from August to November.
How to get there
The Meo Vac region is located about 300 kilometers from the city of Hanoi. The best way to get there is to take a bus or minibus to the town of Ha Giang, then rent a car with driver, a motorcycle or take a taxi for the remaining 160 km to Meo Vac. It is recommended to spend at least 2 days and 1 night in Meo Vac to explore the popular sights of the area, and up to 3 days if you want to go hiking in the nearby villages. It is not forbidden to extend your trip to visit other important sites in the province... Do not hesitate to ask us for advice!
