2. Da Nang
One of Vietnam’s favourite coastal cities, this is a summertime place full of sandy beaches. There’s more to Da Nang than beach-time though, which is ideal for those who like a bit of variety on their summertime trips. This is the perfect place from which to experience the Hai Van Pass, made even more famous when it was discovered on Top Gear’s Vietnam motorbike special. The views of Da Nang and the mountains from this mountain pass are spectacular.

4. Nha Trang
Another favourite Vietnamese coastal city, Nha Trang is a truly happening place during the summer. Known for vast beaches, spectacular diving sites and clusters of islands not far from the coasts, this is the embodiment of summertime adventures. 5. My Son
When experiencing the best of central Vietnam in the summer, get a little off-the-beaten-track and head inland to My Son. This unusual spot is home to a collection of abandoned Hindu temples. Thought to have been constructed sometime between the 4th and 14th centuries AD, the temples were made with the purpose of worshipping the god, Shiva. The valley My Son is located in what was also formerly known as a site of religious ceremonies for kings, and a burial place for royalty.
