Route: Hanoi - Ha Giang - Dong Van - Meo Vac

Day 1: Hanoi - Ha Giang (L/D)
- Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi at around 8am. We will set out towards Ha Giang via Tuyen Quang, passing countless tea plantations, mountains and ethnic minority villages along the way.
  
  You will have lunch at a local restaurant in Tuyen Quang, before arriving in Ha Giang in the late afternoon. Time permitting, you will explore the Ha Thanh and Thon Tha villages and meet the local people before you’re served dinner and stay overnight in a local Tay house.
  - A 5 -7 km walk.
Day 2: Trekking In Ha Giang (B/L/D)
- Today you will begin your trekking adventure by setting out form the homestay in the morning and trekking for about 6 to 8 hours to the village of Lung Vai. Along this trek, you’ll get to take in the beauty of the terraced rice paddies, majestic mountains and serene palm-tree forests. You’ll also run into people from many different ethnic groups along the way, such as Man and Dao, who are generally more than happy to stop and interact with travellers for a short while.
  
  You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch amidst nature before continuing to the remote village of Khuoi My. En route there will be many farmers working in the fields, and if we have the time you can even join in for some farm work if you so desire.
  
  Finally, we move on to Ban Tha Village, where our driver will pick you up and drive you to Nam Dam, where you can enjoy a home-cooked local meal and spend the night in a homestay operated by a Dzao family.
  - A 13-15 km trek.
Day 3: Quan Ba - Dong Van (B/L/D)
- As we set out from Ha Giang after getting our permit from the immigration office, your journey to Dong Van will be filled with spectacular landscapes in the form of a series of long passes. En route you will stop for lunch at the small and beautiful mountain village of Tam Son, before heading to the majestic “King of the H’mong Palace”, a fortress built by a local chief, Vuong Chin Duc, who allied himself with French forces against the Viet Minh. Built in the 1900’s, this palace was designed in the style of ancient Chinese architecture dating to the Qing era, and it was made from materials such as solid stone blocks, wood and terracotta tiles.
  
  You will stop for lunch in the mountain town of Dong Van, before heading out on a 3.5 hour trek to the highest mountain in Dong Van where you can enjoy some truly breath-taking panoramic views. We’ll also visit H’mong, Lo Lo and Giay ethnic villages in this incredible, untouched frontier region.
  
  Rounding out the day, you will be driven back to Dong Van for dinner and a night in a hotel.
  - A 8-10 km trek.
Day 4: Dong Van - Meo Vac - Ha Giang (B/L/D)
- After breakfast, you will get to explore Dong Van Old Quarter, before making the trek up to Pu Lo fortress which was built in 1890 and evacuated in 1945. From here you can enjoy spectacular views of the entire region, before climbing 8 km to the top of Ma Pi Leng Pass, through a gigantic maze of limestone peaks, stone forests, and canyons before descending into the valley of Meo Vac.
  
  Once the trekking is done, you will be driven back to Ha Giang for dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.
  - A 8-10 km trek.
Day 5: Ha Giang - Hanoi (B/L)
- On the final day of the tour, we’ll take you along the road less travelled to get back to Hanoi. On this route you’ll follow the rivers as it snakes from pass to pass through the hills of Central-North Vietnam. The locals here are likely to be fascinated by your presence, as the area sees very few foreign visitors, so it’s a great time to interact with the locals and learn about their culture.
  
  Before we reach Hanoi we’ll make a stop in Duong Lam Ancient Village, where centuries old houses can be viewed and explored. Finally we’ll you off at your hotel in Hanoi after stopping for lunch in a local restaurant along the way.

Wonderful Ha Giang guided trekking!

We did 5 days of trekking from Ha Giang to Ba Be with our wonderful guide, Long Tran,, and our excellent driver, Mr. Duy, from Mr. Linh's Adventures.We absolutely loved all the trekking, Long took us on hikes we never would have found ourselves. Hiking in the Ha Giang area, and our Sky Trek hike from Ma Pi Leng Pass were 2 of the highlights. We also loved the homestays and hotels they arranged for us. All of the food was fabulous too, such variety and so generous, every meal was a feast! Long was such a kind and friendly young man, we really enjoyed his company, and Long knew the region so well. We always felt safe with Mr. Duy driving! We highly recommend trekking with Long Tran and Mr. Duy of Mr. Linh's Adventures!

5-Day Ha Giang Province Trekking Tour

My fiancé, sister and I booked our guided trekking tour just a few weeks out from our intended travel days, and from start to finish, Mr. Linh’s office and guiding staff went above and beyond to provide us with a safe, fun, worthwhile experience.

From the beginning, communications with the office were frequent, helpful, and consistent. Kevin’s attentiveness and attention to detail laid to rest any initial reservations or hesitance I felt about booking a tour with a local operator from so far away.

From the itinerary to our guide and driver: I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Thanks to the willingness of our guide Loi to spread his love and enthusiasm to everyone we encountered, he helped break down any cultural and language barriers so we could learn from and experience the beauty of the people in the villages we’d trek by. Loi is a giver. He cared for my sister when she came down with flu like symptoms, he accommodated all of our food preferences, offered us options for our days, and is just a great guy, and now a lifetime friend.

Our driver Long was also a joy to be around—and though he spoke very little English, he did everything to make us feel at home! I can not express enough praise for the work he did—we felt so safe driving up some of the craziest roads, and his kind-hearted gestures over our meals and when he didn’t have to drive will never be forgotten.

The sheer beauty of the far north is the stuff of dreams. We encountered very few tourists up there, and I hope that those who visit in the years to come will tread lightly, and respect this sacred space and the people that breathe life into it.

Thank you to everyone from Mr. Lihn’s for the trip of a lifetime.

5-day trekking in Ha Giang

Review of: Trekking around Ha Giang 5 days 4 nights

The 5-day trekking in Ha Giang was a wonderful and authentic way to experience Vietnam's north. We booked our trip via Mr Lin'h's website and all communication with sales representative Kevin was smooth. My boyfriend and I especially enjoyed the homestay experience and hospitality of the local families, and of course the scenic landscapes which we encountered during the 3 days of trekking. Our guide Minh and driver Minh made our tour an unforgettable experience. Lunches were excellent and I especially appreciate the detour which was made to get a special lunch for my boyfriend who had become sick during the tour. Our guide Minh's English was perfect and he told us everything about the places we visited and tribal people we encountered. One suggestion we would like to make to Mr Linh's adventures is to add the car travel time to the tour description, which we would have appreciated. We had a truly memorable experience in northern Vietnam thanks to Minh and Minh and would definitely recommend the tour for those looking for an experience off the beaten track!
