Nhi Thanh Cave and Tam Thanh Pagoda
Located about 3 km from the city center, in the heart of the To Thi mountain complex, lies the Nhi Thanh Cave, a relic of the Mac dynasty citadel. This remarkable cave is famous for its spectacular limestone formations, stalactites, and stalagmites that awe visitors. A small river winds through the mountain, connecting the different cave chambers through narrow passages. The cave is intimately linked to the historical figure of Ngô Thì Sĩ, governor of Lang Son from 1777 to 1780, who discovered it and contributed to its development. Not far from there, the Tam Thanh Pagoda (or Thanh Thien Pagoda) stands, a structure known for its unique architecture and cultural significance in the region.
Dong Kinh Market
Dong Kinh Market, located in the Phai Vệ district, Vĩnh Trại, near the Sino-Vietnamese border, is the largest commercial center in the city. It spans three floors, each specializing in different types of products: the first floor is dedicated to electronics, the second to daily consumer goods, and the third to clothing and fashion accessories. Highly frequented, especially during festive periods and holidays, it's the perfect place for shopping and discovering local products.
Mau Son Mountain
Mau Son Mountain is a paradise for hikers, offering panoramic views and exceptional biodiversity. A popular hiking spot, the site was once a resort area during the French colonial period, as evidenced by the dozens of old abandoned houses built there. With winters increasingly seeing snow, the destination is gaining popularity.

Lang Son Mac Citadel
The Lang Son Mac Citadel, built under the Lê dynasty, bears witness to resistance against invasions in the 17th and 18th centuries and symbolizes the region's strategic importance. Facing the Tam Thanh Cave, next to the mountain symbolizing the legend of Tô Thi, the site was an extremely important military base. Even today, you can perceive its original and ancient features, as well as its strategic relevance. Flanked by three imposing mountains - Tô Thi, Lô Côt, and Mac Kinh Cung - each rising tens of meters in height, it is surrounded by sturdy walls that offer a 360-degree panoramic view of the plain below.

Tam Thanh Cave
Tam Thanh Cave is a system of three caves (Nhat Thanh, Nhi Thanh, and Tam Thanh) known for its spectacular limestone formations and a Buddhist pagoda built under the later Lê dynasty. The name "Tam Thanh" refers to the three highest realms of Taoism: Ngoc Thanh, Thuong Thanh, and Thai Thanh. The Tam Thanh Pagoda was once a Taoist worship site but later integrated elements of Buddhism and mother goddess worship. The pagoda is believed to have been built under the Lê dynasty (980-1009). Access to the pagoda is through a staircase of over 30 stone steps inside the cave.
Mau Son Mountain
Mau Son Mountain, the highest point in Lang Son province with altitudes reaching up to 1,600 meters, offers breathtaking panoramic views from its summit. The other highest peaks are named Phia Po (1,541 meters) and Phia Me (1,520 meters).

Mac Dynasty Citadel
The Mac Dynasty Citadel, located in a rugged landscape shaped by the peaks of To Thi, Mac Kinh Cung, and Lo Co, historically served a crucial military function in the 16th century. Built by Mac Kinh Cung to resist the Lê dynasty and the Trinh lords, it played a crucial role in controlling the single route connecting north and south Vietnam. Access is gained by climbing around 100 steps to reach the summit, from where you can admire the panoramic view of Lang Son city.
Chi Lang Passage
Chi Lang Passage, located 60 km from the Chinese border and 40 km south of Lang Son city, is a picturesque valley that historically served as a natural barrier against invaders. In 1427, it was the site of a crucial battle between Vietnamese forces of the Lam Son rebellion, led by Lê Lợi, and the Chinese Ming dynasty army. This battle was a major victory for the Vietnamese forces, contributing to the liberation of Vietnam from Chinese occupation. Aside from historical remnants, you can enjoy an easy hike in a scenic landscape.

Lang Son is a crossroads of cultures, where Vietnamese and Chinese traditions harmoniously blend.
Besides historical sites like the citadel and sacred caves that reflect its rich past, the region also showcases its spirituality, notably through the
Ky Cung Temple. Dedicated to the genius Giao Long, this temple is an important sacred site and has been classified as a national historical site. Also known as Quan Lớn Tuần Tranh Temple, it is located on the left bank of the Ky Cung River, at the entrance to the Ky Cung Bridge, in the Vinh Trai district. Its traditional architecture is adorned with wooden sculptures and ornaments, including a set of three vaulted gates. Bell and drum towers are also present outside.
Another important cultural and spiritual site,
Bac Le Temple, also known as Cong Dong Bac Le Temple, is situated on a hill in Bac Le village, Tan Thanh commune, Huu Lung district, about 70 km southwest of Lang Son city. The site is divided into three palaces: Đệ Nhất, Đệ Nhị, and Đệ Tam (forbidden palace). The temple is preceded by an imposing tam quan gate. Built in the 16th or 17th century, but undergoing many renovations, it is associated with the legend of Mẫu Thượng Ngàn (Mother of the Mountains), who is said to have helped Vietnamese forces defeat foreign invaders.

Goddess Mother Temple, located near Dong Dang, about 15 kilometers from Lang Son city. Built in traditional Vietnamese style, with architectural elements inspired by the Le and Mac dynasties, it houses a white statue of Amitābha over 2 meters tall, symbolizing peace and serenity. The temple venerates the Goddess Mother, a central figure in the Mother Goddess worship in Vietnam, representing fertility, prosperity, and protection. She is often associated with prayer rituals for health and luck. Mother Goddess worship is considered an
intangible cultural heritage of Vietnam, recognized by UNESCO.
