Nowadays, there are many
hypemarkets and supermarkets in Vietnam, most of which are located in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and major cities. The big names are Big C, Aeon Mall or Lotte Mart.
Supermarkets of foreign brands such as KFC, Family Mart and other Circle K have been created in recent years, which is supposed to facilitate shopping – to the detriment of street vendors. As regards hypermarkets and/or shopping centres, Vietnam is seeing them multiply in response to changing international economic demand.
Not only domestic companies invest heavily in the storage and retail market of consumer products, but also foreign companies. This has led to a significant increase in large retail chains in major cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, Da Nang and Binh Duong. On this niche, Big C is currently leading in terms of quantity, then comes Mega Mall with 19 grocery stores followed by Lotte supermarket with 13 and finally the Japanese brand Aeon with 4 supermarkets.
