On November 28, 2019 the city of Muscat, Oman, hosted the 26th World Travel Awards ceremony. Established in 1993, WTA rewards excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. Today the WTA brand is recognized globally as one of the top awards ceremony and a hallmark of quality. In Oman, Vietnam was honored with the very prestigious
World's Leading Heritage Site 2019 award, but it was not the only WTA prize won… Throughout the year 2019, Vietnam and Vietnamese businesses obtained 20 awards in the World category and 36 awards in Asia category including Asia's Leading Destination 2019,
Asia's Leading Culinary Destination 2019 and
Asia's Leading Cultural Destination 2019.

In another register,
Vietnam also won the World’s Best Golf Destination 2019 award for the first time, marking its entrance into a new specialized market for Golf lovers.
It is the first time Vietnam wins World-class awards, the second consecutive year that the country obtains the title of Asia's Leading Destination, and the third consecutive year for Asia’s Best Golf Destination. Last but not least, Vietnamese cuisine has been recognized and registered as Asia's Leading Culinary Destination 2019 for the very first time.

Vietnam’s 2019 report in the tourism field
2019 is a year of success, not only in terms of awards but also in number of visits as the demand to explore this S-shaped country keeps growing and growing. At the end of October 2019, the General Statistics Office (GSO) released impressive figures announcing that the number of tourists visiting Vietnam in the first 10 months of the year 2019, had reached 14.5 million, an increase of 13% over the same period of time in 2018. Particularly in October 2019, the number of international tourists coming to Vietnam has reached the highest score ever recorded, reaching 1.62 million visitors, an increase of 34.3% over the same period last year.
The Vietnam Administration of Tourism (VNAT) expects that the number of visitors for the whole year 2019, to reach 18 million people.
By October 2019, Vietnam made it to the Top 10 Asia-Pacific destinations and fourth in Southeast Asia after Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. According to the Pacific Asia Tourism Association (PATA), as of the second quarter of 2019, Vietnam had welcomed 8.48 million foreign tourists, making it a top 10 destination for international arrivals in the Asia-Pacific region.
The fact that Vietnam and Vietnamese businesses received so many awards is a positive signal and a confirmation of the country’s increasing influence and attractiveness on the world map. These latest awards will surely be an additional support to keep up the good work and allow more and more people to
discover the wonders of Vietnam and its ethnic minorities, while protecting its Cultural Heritage and uniqueness.
