Multi-day package tour in Vietnam and Cambodia
Review of: Vietnam – Cambodia 16 days 15 nights
After several weeks I have now decided to write a detailed review of my personal experience with a local travel company in Vietnam, Mr Linh’s Adventures. They have provided me with the best trip of my life and the greatest experience and customer service I could have hoped for. It is only fair that I support them in return.
With my boyfriend we have decided to undertake a multi-day trip through Vietnam and Cambodia last spring, our first time in Asia. After a long ti...Read Moreme researching online, we chose Mr Linh’s Adventures based on the great recommendations they have and the interesting tours they offer.
They helped us customize our itinerary and save on cost at the same time by offering us to join multiple group tours. The organisation was absolutely perfect and the team was always available to answer our questions before and during the tour.
Here are the tours we booked, including our own opinion on each, hoping it will give some ideas to another traveler:
NORTH VIETNAM:
Sapa – Well-known for its terraced rice fields, it did not disappoint in terms of landscapes. However I would not recommend staying in the city centre, it lacks of authenticity due to tourism. For a very cheap taxi ride, you can stay with the locals in neighbouring villages and have the most wonderful view from your window. We met and chatted with Hmong and Day ethnic minorities and watched them planting rice. A very special memory for us.
From the city centre, one of the greatest attractions is the Fansipan summit, the ‘Roof of Indochina’. We took the cable car to reach the top, the views are stunning and the whole experience was worth the entrance fees (800.000 VND).
Hagiang – A great experience for trekking, between terraced rice fields and mountains, you feel very privileged in this remote place. Trekking through Ma Pi Leng pass was beautiful, you also get to meet with the Black Hmong, a very traditional ethnic minority with women and children dressed in traditional colourful clothes.
Ban Gioc Waterfalls/Ba Be National Park – The absolute greatest experience! So perfect in each point of view: amazing scenery between the waterfall and the park, so private and heavenly, overnight in homestays with great families, tasty food, entertaining and instructive guide. Just amazing!
CENTRAL VIETNAM:
Danang, Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge – Fun for the cable car ride, it offers good views but besides this I would not recommend it. It is a theme park mainly meant for Vietnamese people, the visit was not as expected.
Hoi An – A short two-day visit but rich of experience! This town is so well-preserved and a very interesting mix of cultures. We spent our time cycling and walking into the Old Town, took the most wonderful pictures and really enjoyed ourselves in this international city.
CAMBODIA:
We had a few days left in Hanoi and wanted to enjoy our time to a maximum. Since Mr Linh’s Adventures did not disappoint so far, we decided to trust them with their extension of 2 days to Siem Reap to visit Angkor. Obviously the temples were mind-blowing, incredible feelings while walking there. We did one large part of the complex cycling which was perfect between Bayon Temple, Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat. I must say, even though we were tired and nearly missed it, the last temple on our list, Ta Prohm, was the most spectacular. It is built in the jungle and nature has taken over the stones, tree roots growing all over them. Breathtaking.
Siem Reap in itself is not really interesting, mainly built to welcome the tourists visiting the temples.
We took a boat trip on Tonlé Sap Lake, one of the biggest freshwater lakes of the region, connected to the Mekong River. We went during dry season so the effect was very lessened by the lack of water. Pick the right time of year if you plan on spending a few days in Siem Reap, there is much more to see after rain season.
Believe it or not this is a very short summary of our adventure! Thank you so much Mr Linh’s Adventures for your commitment, we appreciated every minute of it and are happy to recommend your services!
